Kinja'd!!!

A couple weeks ago I put up an announcement for my 18th episode of Lehto's Law and noted I was about to hit a couple of milestones with my weekly podcast. That post - and the one for the 19th - generated enough traffic to blast past both milestones.

I said in the first post that I was hoping to hit 1,000 listens on one of my podcasts and my overall numbers were nearing 10,000. The episode I put up that day gained 1,000 listens within 24 hours and soon that 10K mark was in the rearview as well. Gotta love the power of Oppositelock and its supporting army. Here is the one that caught on fire:

And then the one from this week did similar numbers.

People have been throwing ideas at me for podcasts - as well as for articles here - and some of them are quite good. Keep 'em coming! People also sheepishly ask me for advice, not realizing that I love answering questions. If you have a question, do not be shy about putting it in the comments or emailing me directly (Lehto@Kennon.com). I have a website where I post all of my contact info and - as you might guess - I get questions all day long as a result. The questions I get here are much more interesting than most of the ones I get from random visitors to my website.

And if you are more the iTunes kind of person, you can see all my podcasts and/or !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

As for the picture at the top, I am not sure how fun a pic of me talking into a microphone might be so I like to mix them up. (I'm also losing track: Did I already post the picture of me backstage with Def Leppard?) The pic above is of me shortly after having a less-than-optimal day mountain biking at Pontiac Lake, Michigan. There is a broken bone in my hand and a few stitches in my face. I was in surgery the next day getting pins in my hand. The fun part was going to court looking like that. I had a jam-packed week and had several judges grimace when I approached the bench. One actually said, "You're the attorney? I thought you were a victim."

Not sure what kind of victim I looked like but it was understandable. Anyway, I got better. Thanks for listening.

Good stuff Steve. You have obviously found a good area of interest for folks around here. Keep at it. I've been listening to the podcasts while working in the yard. It s a good way to keep entertained.

Excellent information, as always Steve.

I know this was on the other side of the pond, but I wonder what will happen with the cars on the auto carrier that capsized in the Channel last month. Even a vehicle with little or no apparent damage could suffer a hairline crack in a suspension component. I suspect these guys would all get crushed.

That is a huge debate. Back when I actually responded to EVERY comment I got, I was dragged into an argument with a troll when this topic came up on a piece I wrote.

There is no law requiring that they be crushed but they MIGHT be, largely due to the PR ramifications of not doing something to dispose of them. It will be fun to watch (almost as much fun as watching that huge boat, stuck).

Thanks for broadcasting! I still enjoy all your shows.

I'm very curious about the austrailian downloads you've mentioned on the podcast. I can't help but wonder if it's just the location of an ISP that you are getting. Kind of like when I get identified by IP address from my office in MA it often shows up as Pennsylvania, because that's where our ISP is based out of, or when I get something on my cellphone it is identified by a NY or VA ISP because that's where AT&T's IP addresses are registered...

Do you have to pay for the bandwidth for all your downloads? It could be some cuckoo scam by the provider having austrailian bots download your show a bunch of times!

Just some random thoughts from an IT guy...

I'm sure you are right about the location of the downloads in that there is probably a central hub (or whatever the internet term might be) where the internet connections in an area answer to. I do know (from my Australian friends) that a couple of the towns were suburbs of much larger towns - lending to the idea that the people in the big town were being recorded as having listened from the smaller one.

There are a couple of US cities that pop up like that too. For example, the #1 US city for listeners in the last 30 days is Ashburn VA. I know that is a huge technical corridor (although the proximity to DC might just mean the NSA listens to my show).

The shows are hosted on Soundcloud and I pay to upload but the downloads are free.

Thanks for the note.

Did you do better in court for that week you looked like a victim?

That was a great piece. We'll see if the press can somehow keep track of those cars and where they end up.

Continued success.

No. I got the impression some people were upset that I left the house looking like that.

Oh, the poor dears. You must have ruffled their lace and offended their delicate sensibilities.

It's not exactly like you could've covered it in makeup or put on a rubber mask of your own face (like when Bryan Cranston went to San Diego Comic Con wearing a rubber mask of his own character from Breaking Bad).

You definitely found a niche that interests people. It helps that you're genuinely fun to read and listen to.

Hah I love the picture. I had a similar thing happen to me once as a kid. I was a nerdy kid that had about 0 social skills at the time and one day I came into school WRECKED TO HELL with road rash, missing teeth, the works (I was dragged by a car [accidentally] but thats a WHOLE other story). I was the most popular kid in school for a day. After that day I've been doing dumb stuff ever since.

Your busted up picture story needs more tigers, rockets and international crime syndicates.
